The Breast Cancer Resource Center is a place to ask questions, explore options, and connect with a diverse community of survivors, lifers, and thrivers who can relate in a way no one else can. Family Eldercare carries out its mission through a variety of programs, which are designed to prevent abuse, neglect, self-neglect and financial exploitation of elders and adults with disabilities, prolong independent living in the least restrictive environment, and promote the health, well-being and dignity of elders, adults with disabilities and their caregivers. The Flatwater Foundation is dedicated to providing those diagnosed with cancer, their families and loved ones access to mental health therapy and family support. As the first hospice in Central Texas, Hospice Austin was established in 1980 to ease the physical, emotional and spiritual pain of any person in our community with a life-expectancy of six months or less, if the disease follows its expected course. Patients receive care in their own homes, at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House or in nursing facilities in Travis, Williamson, Bastrop, Hayes and Caldwell counties. Patients are cared for by a team consisting of a doctor, nurse, social worker, chaplain, certified nurse aid, and volunteer. LiveStrong provides direct services to anyone affected by cancer; connects people and communities with the services they need; and calls for state, national and world leaders to help fight the disease. It offers free one-on-one support to cancer survivors, caregivers and loved ones; develops community programs to address the day-to-day concerns of patients; and partners with institutions and policymakers to make a systemic change in the way the world fights cancer. Wonders & Worries ensures that children and teenagers can reach their full potential, despite a parent’s serious illness. The organization works with each family to determine if the child or teen would thrive best in individual sessions or group sessions.
